Yagi Yusei’s Unlucky Walking Scene From “Mr. Yano’s Ordinary Days”

A scene from the upcoming live-action film “Mr. Yano’s Ordinary Days (Yano-kun no Futsū no Hibi), featuring Yagi Yusei from the group FANTASTICS, has been released. The movie, which marks Yagi’s first solo lead role, shows the incredibly unlucky moments of his character, Yano Tsuyoshi, as he navigates his chaotic everyday life. It is directed by Takehiko Shinjō and the film is set to hit theatres on November 15.

Based on the popular romantic comedy manga by Yui Tamura, the movie tells the story of Yano, a high school student with a streak of terrible luck. Despite his constant injuries, he dreams of having a normal high school life and even finds himself involved in an innocent romance. Along the way, his classmates show kindness and support, trying to help him achieve his simple wish.

In one memorable scene, Yano appears at the start of the school year, running late to the opening ceremony with a bandage over his bleeding forehead. Sitting next to him is Yoshida (played by Ikehata Anji), who can’t help but notice that every day, Yano shows up with new injuries – sometimes with a neck brace, other times with a bandage on his face or his arm in a sling. She grows more and more concerned about him.

One day, Yoshida decides to secretly follow Yano after school. As she watches him, it becomes clear just how unlucky he is. On what seems to be a perfectly smooth road, Yano suddenly trips and falls. As he gets up, he hits the back of his head on a signpost above him. Dizzy from the pain, he stumbles again and nearly slips on his own bag, which had fallen to the ground, heading straight toward a drainage ditch.

Just as Yoshida gasps in fear, thinking Yano is about to fall in, he manages to catch himself by grabbing the wall. But his balance isn’t perfect, and in the end, he still ends up falling into the ditch.

Commenting on the filming of Yano’s hilariously unlucky moments, Yagi said, “There’s action involved when Yano gets hurt. It’s a mix of comedy, suspense, and some heartwarming moments too. I think this scene will remind viewers of pure and innocent feelings in a fun way.”

As Yano walks away after his misfortune, letting out a deep sigh and looking defeated, there’s something endearing about him that makes you want to support him. With all the bad luck he faces just on his way to and from school, one wonders – will Yano ever be able to live the ordinary days he dreams of?

The movie is set to release on 15th November. An anime adaptation has also been announced which is in the works.
