“When The Phone Rings” Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin’s Family

The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama “When The Phone Rings” is set to start premiering from November 22 at 9:50 PM (KST). MBC has released new preview images from the series where we see tension between the family of Baek Sa-eon (Yoo Yeon-seok) and Hong Hui-joo (Chae Soo-bin) due to the sudden disappearance of Hong In-ah (Han Jae-yu), who was supposed to marry Yoo Yeon-seok.

The drama “When The Phone Rings” is based on the web novel of the same name, written by Kim Ji-woon. The story is about Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hui-joo, who appear like a perfect couple outside, but actually share a cold, business-like relationship at home. However, one day, a threatening phone call shakes their relationship.

As our excitement for the first episode increases, MBC has released preview images from the episode, featuring various characters. It includes Yoo Yeon-seok as Baek Sa-eon, Chae Soo-bin as Hong Hui-joo, Han Jae-yu as Hong In-ah, Yoo Seong-joo as Baek Eui-young, Chu Sang-mi as Shim Gyu-jin, Choi Kwang-il as Hong Il-yeong, and Oh Hyun-kyung as Kim Yeon-hee on November 11.

The show features the relationship between Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hui-joo, who relationship is solely because of the alliance between Sa-eon’s father and Baek Eui-young, who is a politician, with presidential ambitions, and Hui-joo’s adoptive father, Hong Il-gyeong, who is head of a major company.

Han Jae-yu as Hong In-ah

Han Jae-yi plays Hong In-ah, the stepsister of Hui-joo and Sa-eon’s true fiancée. In-ah was set to marry Sa-eon but mysteriously vanished just before the wedding, leading Hui-joo to step in. Her sudden disappearance results curiosity about her reasons. When she unexpectedly reappears like a ticking time bomb, she adds fresh tension to the story, raising the drama stakes.

Yoo Seong-joo as Baek Eui-young

Yoo Seong-joo takes on the role of Baek Eui-yong, Sa-eon’s father and a strong presidential candidate who feels overshadowed by his son’s public popularity. Eui-young, driven by his ambition, manipulates Sa-eon, determined to secure victory by any means necessary.

Chu Sang-mi as Shim Gyu-jin

Chu Sang-mi plays Sa-eon’s mother, Shim Gyu-jin, who comes from an elite family and is both a criminal psychologist and negotiation expert. She is dedicated to helping her husband Eui-yong become president, although she has a dark, unhappy aura despite her impressive credentials. Her complex character raises interest in her hidden story.

Choi Kwang-il as Hong Il-yeong and Oh Hyun-kyung as Kim Yeon-hee

Choi Kwang-il and Oh Hyun-kyung portray Hui-joo’s adoptive father, Hong Il-gyeong, and his second wife, Kim Yeon-hee. As the influential head of the news media company “Cheongun Ilbo”, Il-gyeong has used his network to build his empire. Yeon-hee, who changed her life through marriage, now manipulates her daughter and exerts control to maintain their family’s strategic partnership with the Baeks.

The drama “When The Phone Rings” is directed by Park Sang-woo and Wi Deuk-gyu, planned by Kwon Sung-chang and produced by Bon Factory and Baram Pictures. It will premiere from November 22 at 9:50 PM (KST) on MBC TV.
