In the latest episode of “Iron Family”, which aired on KBS 2TV on 27th October, Shin Hyun-joon’s character, Ji Seung-don, learns that Choi Tae-joon’s character, Cha Tae-woong, is indeed his biological son. However, his reaction is unexpectedly harsh.
In the episode, Ji Seung-don discovers that Cha Tae-woong, who was left at a shelter in 1991, is the son he had with his college girlfriend. Seung-don gathers information about Tae-woong, learning that he now lives in a rooftop apartment and works part-time at a laundry.
After realising that his college friend Go Bong-hee (played by Park Ji-young) has been supporting Tae-woong, Seung-don heads to her laundary under the pretence of the loan Bong-hee has taken. There, he meets Tae-woong for the first time and secretly collects his DNA sample to confirm their relationship.
When the DNA test confirms that Tae-woong is indeed his son, Seung-don returns to the laundromat and bluntly hands Tae-woong the test results. He coldly tells him, “Your mother’s number is on there. Even if you are my son, it changes nothing”, which leaves others around them feel sorry for Tae-woong.
Meanwhile, Lee Da-rim (played by Geum Sae-rok) has finally gained her vision back after the surgery. She sees her reflection up close for the first time in the mirror, she asks her mother, “Who’s this?” Bong-hee smiles and replies, “It’s you. You haven’t seen your face in over 10 years, right?”
Amused, Da-rim playfully asks her mother, “Who did I get my good looks from? Why didn’t you tell me I was this pretty?” However, due to surgery side effects, she now has a habit of winking with her left eye, which complicates her job search. After multiple rejections, she starts working as a juice delivery person.
This episode left viewers touched by the complex family dynamics and Da-rim’s journey to adapt to her new life. The episode 11 of “Iron Family” will air on KBS 2TV on 2nd November at 7:55 PM (KST). It also streams on Viki on specific regions.
