The upcoming movie “One Win”, Korea’s first-ever film centred around volleyball, has released its first teaser on October 22, ahead of its December release.
The story follows a professional women’s volleyball team, Pink Storm, that has never won a single match. Led by a coach who’s never tasted victory and owned by a club president who couldn’t care less about winning, the players set out to achieve the impossible: just one win.
The teaser opens with the intense faces of Pink Storm players entering the court, with Coach Kim Woo-jin (played by Song Kang-ho) leading them. However, the mood shifts quickly as their poor performance is revealed. A voiceover sarcastically says, “You’ve been fired, expelled, bankrupted, and even divorced, huh?” hinting at Coach Woo-jin’s less-than-stellar track record.
Pink Storm’s strange club owner Kang Jung-won (played by Park Jung-min) then appears, making headlines with his outrageous promise of a 2 billion won reward for a single win. Even though he knows nothing about volleyball, his antics are sure to make waves and capture the attention of the media.
As the inexperienced team continues to make mistake after mistake, Pink Storm is on the verge of falling apart. However, led by their captain Bang Soo-ji (played by Jang Yoon-ju), the team passionately shouts their battle cry of “Fighting!” as they focus on their single goal: to win just one match this season.
With the well-known actor Song Kang-ho and the raising star Park Jung-min sharing the screen for the first time, “One Win” is already sparking curiosity among the viewers.
Directed and written by Shin Yeon-shik – known for his work on films like “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet”, “Cassiopeia”, and “Cobweb” – the movie brings together a talented cast, including Jang Yoon-ju, Park Myung-hoon, and Lee Min-ji, making it all the more exciting.
“One Win” will hit theaters this December.
