“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” is about the story of Yoon Jeong-nyeon, a naturally gifted singer and her journey to become one of the top performers of traditional Korean theatre.
In the episode 8, we saw the Maeran National Theatre Troupe begin their audition for lead actors of Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang in their upcoming performance, “The Fool and the Princess”. Jeong-nyeon was nervous about her acting, especially after her close friend did not chose her for the audition and later seeing their flawless performance.
She was pushed into doing an intensive vocal training near waterfall or cave by Hye-rang and due to her anxieties, she continued it even after being told by others that it could harm her voice. During the audition, her voice sounded strained, and the judges tried to stop the audition. However, she was given another chance to perform and she shown her tearful and flawless performance but during the climax, she started coughing blood and then collapsed.
In the preview of episode 9, she was diagnosed by the doctors, who hinted that she might have to give up singing since she might lose her voice. In the previously released preview images from episode 9, we saw her crying in the middle of a rainy road.
Now the newly released preview images by tvN show her walking into turbulent sea, highlighting her despair. She steps deeper into the waves, her expression one of sorrow, with only the ocean surrounding her. Standing alone in the rough water, she gazes into the endless horizon with tear-filled eyes, expressing the profound weight of her struggles. The scene raises curiosity – will she rise from these trials, or be pulled under?
