According to a report by TenAsia, Kim Se-jeong might play the female lead in MBC’s new drama “The Moon Flows In the River” (working title). Actor Kang Tae-oh has been cast as the male lead in the drama.
Reportedly, a source from her agency, Jellyfish Entertainment, have confirmed the news that she has received the offer, and she is positively considering the offer.
“The Moon Flows In the River” is scheduled to start airing from next year. It is being called as the historical version to the popular drama “Secret Garden”, which aired on SBS in 2010. Since “Secret Garden” was highly popular, the expectations are high from the upcoming drama.
Kim Se-jeong first gained attention when she participated in Mnet’s audition program Produce 101, placed second and then officially joined the girl group I.O.I. Later, while still being part of I.O.I, she performed with Gugudan to promote the group.
She is the only idol to have achieved first place both as a group member and a solo artist in the same year.
She began her acting career in 2017 with KBS2’s drama “School 2017”. Despite starting her career as a singer, she established herself well as an actress.
Kim Se-jeong is set to star in ENA’s upcoming drama “Brewing Love”, premiering on November 4. She will be playing the lead role opposite Lee Jong-won. Drunken Romance tells the love story of Yong-joo (played by Kim Se-jeong), a passionate sales king at a liquor company and Min-joo (played by Lee Jong-won), the sensitive CEO of a brewery.
“The Moon Flows In the River” will be the first historical drama for Kim Se-jeong in her 7 years of career and considering the expectations from the drama, it will be a unique experience for her.
