In JTBC’s weekend drama “A Virtuous Business”, the search for the biological mother of Kim Do-hyun (played by Yeon Woo-jin) took an unexpected turn in episode 10 which aired on November 10.
In episode 10 of “A Virtuous Business”, Han Jung-sook (played by Kim So-yeon) discovered a baby garment in Oh Geum-hee’s (played by Kim Sung-ryung) storage room. This cloth looked similar to the one Do-hyun wore at the time of his adoption, including the initials “K.B.H” stitched on it, hinting that there might be a connection between Geum-hee and Do-hyun’s birth mother.
Do-hyun was adopted by his adoptive parents who were based on the United States. He returned to South Korea in search of his biological mother. He is often haunted by nightmares of a baby engulfed in flames, crying, while a mysterious woman rescues the baby and leaves him at a church. From a nun, Do-hyun learns that the woman who dropped off the baby wore a wooden rosary ring, held a ticket to Geumje, and spoke with a specific dialect.
Thirty years ago, during the chaos of a fire incident, multiple babies went missing in a series of abductions. In the previous episode, it was revealed that the video store owner, Jo Soon-ae (Woo Hyun-joo) was behind some of the kidnappings, but she had not taken Do-hyun.
So far, there have been no link or suspicion connecting Geum-hee to Do-hyun. Geum-hee does not speak in the Geumje dialect, nor is she originally from there. She first moved to Geumje when she married her husband, Won-bong.
In fact, when they first met, she had firmly declared that she wanted to live independently and would not have children. This raises questions – why does Geum-hee has that baby garment with the same initials as Do-hyun’s, even though she does not have any child? Was her choice to not have children related to Do-hyun?
With only two episodes left for “A Virtuous Business”, the past of Do-hyun will be revealed in the upcoming weekend. The episode 11 will air on November 16 on JTBC and shortly be available on Netflix in selected regions.
