CNBLUE Talks About Their Song & Bands Rise on “Cultwo Show”

Popular South Korean band, CNBLUE, made an appearance on the SBS PowerFM show “Cultwo Show” on October 20. During the show, the members talked about how they have been busy with concerts, university festivals, and acting projects lately, about their new song and their contribution to the raise of bands in South Korea.

The band talked about their latest title track, “그리운건 그대일까 그때일까”, which translates to “Is It You I Miss or Is It That Time?” (English Title: A Sleepless Night).

They mentioned that the title is inspired by a poem by Ha Sang-wook and is often shortened to “그그그.” Jung Yong-hwa contributed to the song’s lyrics and music, while Lee Jong-hyun and Kang Min-hyuk also included their own songs in this album. They talked about how it’s special since all former members took part in this project.

Kang Min-hyuk shared his thoughts on the recent trend of bands gaining popularity in South Korea. He said, “We believe we have played a part in this.” He added that during the 2010s, the live music scene for bands was challenging, but it feels great to see many bands successfully connecting with audiences through different styles of music. Lee Jong-hyun and Jung Yong-hwa expressed their wish, saying, “We hope there’s a CNBLUE boom soon.”

Also, the band revealed that they have not yet finalized a name for their light stick. Lee Jong-hyun suggested the name “C-Bong,” but it was not accepted. Jung Yong-hwa shared that he thought of a shorter version of “Everybody jump” as “Ettibong” for their performances. Kim Tae-kyun, from the “Cultwo Show,” showed interest by offering to accept various name suggestions during the segment called “Cultwo Name Creation.”
