“Blue Lock” Episode 31: Sae Itoshi’s Counterattack Begins

The latest episode of the second season of “Blue Lock”, titled “Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan” Episode 7 (overall 31) is set to air on November 16 at 11:30 (JST) on TV Asahi‘s IMAnimation block and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll shortly after the TV broadcast. The synopsis and scene previews for the episode have also been released.

This anime is based on the popular manga “Blue Lock”, currently serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The story follows Japan’s bold attempt to create the ultimate striker who possess pure egoism, a trait they believe the national soccer team lacks to win the World Cup. To achieve this, 300 high school forwards are gathered for an intense training program. Only one of them will rise as the star, while the dreams of the other 299 will end in failure. The series depicts the intense journey of creating a player who could revolutionize Japanese soccer.

The manga has been a massive success, with over 40 million copies sold. The first season of the anime aired from October 2022 to March 2023, gaining a loyal fanbase.

Episode 31: “Itoshi Rin” – Synopsis

The episode begins with Blue Lock’s team, led by Isagi, launching a fierce offensive. However, their efforts are quickly neutralized by the U-20 Japan team’s “Iron Wall Quartet”, a defensive line that effectively shuts down Blue Lock’s key players and tactics.

The tide shifts dramatically when the ball reaches Sae Itoshi, one of U-20 Japan’s star players. The U-20 team executes a lightning-fast counterattack, showcasing their unmatched defence-to-offense transition. Despite the valiant efforts of Blue Lock’s defenders and goalkeeper Gagamaru Gin to repel the attack, the ball ultimately ends up back at Sae’s feet, setting the stage for a nail-biting moment.
