After winning two awards at 28th Bucheon Internation Fantastic Film Festival, the movie “Ameba Girls and School Ghost Story: School Anniversary” has been gaining a lot of attention. The makers have finally released the much-anticipated trailer for the movie, where we see the main characters having to play a cursed game of hide-and-seek with the ghost.
The story is set on the night of a school anniversary, where a terrifying legend comes to life. Four students – Kim Do-yeon, Son Joo-yeon, Jung Ha-dam and Kang Shin-hee, must survive a cursed game of hide-and-seek.
In the newly released teaser, we see grainy, old footage, accompanied by a chilling voiceover: “If you win at ghost hide-and-seek, you’ll ace the CSATs”.
Ji-yeon (Kim Do-yeon), Eun-byeol (Son Joo-yeon) and Hyun-jung (Kang Shin-hee) team up with their junior Min-ju (Jung Ha-dam) to start the game. The creepy preparations –like trimming their nails and submerging a doll in water – sets a haunting tone. As tension builds, an eerie voice asks, “So, there are four of you?” intensifying the suspense.
As a familiar school bell rings, the text “When the cursed bell tolls, the ghost hide-and-seek begins” flashes across the screen, followed by quick, unsettling shots of the ghost’s terrifying face and the girls’ fearful expressions, leaving viewers on edge.
Particularly gripping is a scene where Min-ju suddenly runs, screaming, through a dark room, captured on an infrared camera. The once-familiar school setting – classrooms, hallways, restrooms – becomes a nightmarish playground for the sinister game. As the tension rises, the question remains: will the girls survive?
“Ameba Girls and School Ghost Story: School Anniversary” will be released on November 6.
